Re: Seamaster purchase-questions before I buy

In my opinion, Ashford is not reputable. The following is their stated policy on the removal of Serial Numbers:

"In order to provide you with extraordinary savings on your watch purchase, our vendors protect their sources of supply by removing the serial number from certain of these new genuine brand name watches. Laws in your state may require us to refer to these watches as "secondhand". These watches are covered by ashford.com's Limited Warranty and not by the original manufacturer. Our warranty matches or doubles the original manufacturer's warranty coverage period and our professional watch technicians service these watches in-house. Ashford.com guarantees the authenticity of its watches in writing and provides a confirming certificate upon request. "

I don't know much about PrestigeTime and haven't researched their Serial Number Policy. Briefly looking at their website, you can do just as well through an Authorized Dealer. Check your e-mail for a Dealer Referral.

Omega now offers a 2-Year standard warranty and 3-Year warranty on Co-Axials. Omega - The Company - is responsible for this warranty, not just one particualar vendor. Omega has been around for over 150 years, I think they'll still be here in two to honor the warranty. You also have the choice of where to send your watch to have warranty work done. You can have it done at a Service Center in the US, or send it off to Switzerland to have it done. Omega is also best equipped to service your Omega, especially with propietary movements. The Omega Calibre 1120 (in the Seamaster Professional) is not proprietary, but is heavily decorated and modified by Omega.
