please help a new guy

First I would like to say thanks. I have learned a great deal from all of your entries. Iam looking for an everyday watch. I'm facinated by watches but am not a collector. Currently leaning toward a SMP chronometer.

My concern/question is this: On Omega forums I read only praise of Omegas, but when reading Rolex forums, I see some of the same names stating that their Rolex has never failed them like their Omegas do.

I like the idea of an auto and am not concerned with small fluctuations per day, but I want a rugged and very dependable watch. Will a SMP auto do the job, or as a future auto owner should I just be prepared for problems?

Sorry about the length of this entry. Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

A.Miles
