I guess I didn't make myself clear - I knew what I meant in my head. :-)

I was not referring to what actually causes the sound (the overwind protection). I was trying to get the point across that the fact that the watch winds itself causes it to always be wound. Wow, I really don't think I'm making sense here. Pretty much the reason you hear the overwind protection when you wind the watch is because the automatic winding function of the watch is so incredibly efficient, that it can take such small movements on our part and convert them to a lot of power held in reserve.
