Re: Battery change for Quartz SMP

Any competent watchmaker will be able to change the battery for you.
However, if you live in the UK you will find that nearly all "high street chain" watch/jewellery stores will refuse to change the battery on the premises, but will offer to send the watch off "to the factory" which will have a pressure tester [and may be a liability issue]. This process will take several weeks and cost about 4x the price of a battery!
Infuriating.
If you wear the watch swimming etc you may be better off getting the battery changed at an independent watchmaker who can test the seals for you.
Off topic - my friend's Rado [just out of warranty] had to "go back to the factory" for a battery change because the shop staff were unwilling for whatever reason to open it up themselves.
