I think your statement "I don't think Omega is always the most concerned about consistancy at times." really struck my head and woke me up. After all Omega has a long, long history and at least there must be some cosistency and standard in doing thing esp. the Swiss. Also if you cannot do it properly then may as well don't do it at all.
Keith, do you think the merger of many Swiss manufacturers like within the Swatch group will affect their standard, shift in focus (specifically to monopolise and earn more)and loosing the art to create fine watches. I hope not.
