Fair enough. I understand (and Keith will correct me if I'm wrong here) that DD was bought out recently. Apparently, they were very nice to Keith when customer service found out about his watch. Perhaps they have sworn off the process now, I don't know for sure. I just wanted to give you the heads up on the whole issue.
Some e-tailers (like writwatch.com) will charge more for a watch that hasn't had the s/n's ground off. Some have sworn off the practice completely. I've heard that Ashford, for example, is no longer doing this, and , from a few customer accounts, watches are arriving with serials... and not under special request. (Perhaps this has something to do with the pending multimillion dollar lawsuit?)
Just be careful.
