Why do you assume it will be ghastly expensive? A small piece like that should be a very basic repair.

Also remember, you can just send the bracelet for repair. Put the watch on a strap and continue to use it while the bracelet is fixed.

Yes. And a local jeweler should be willing to change straps for you for almost if not completely free.
