Re: OMEGA prices going up???
In Response To: OMEGA prices going up??? ()

That is a common sales pressure tactic. In fact, most OMEGA prices have been stable for individual models for many years. The US retail price of the classic Bond SMP for example has not changed since that model came out 10 years ago.

In addition to what Keith mentioned:

Since inflation normally makes prices go UP, this actually means that OMEGA prices on existing models have been FALLING for quite a while!

While published retail prices may stay fixed, there are cases where OMEGA tightens the dealer costs on these pieces, giving the dealers less negotiating room.

Another common factor is a dealer not meeting the minimum unit sales of OMEGA watches to keep their preferred volume discounts. But dealers prefer to make the customer believe big mean nasty OMEGA is raising prices on everybody. Anything to avoid admitting their sales are weak enough that they lost their better volume discount and that you might get a better deal elsewhere.
