Re: Water Resistance of Antique Omegas *LINK*

Sorry to hear about your problem, but the recent service on it is is no way related to this failure.

Water resistance is not a permanent feature. Servicing a 30 year old watch does not restore it to as-new condition. With the aging of the case, seals can no longer be guaranteed to fit sufficiently perfect to make it water resistant.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to restore the original water resistance. Any watch over 15-20 years old should be considered totally non-water resistant.

: Should this be covered by the Omega service
: guarantee?

No. Service on a vintage watch does not restore water-resistance -- which as I already said is impossible -- so the recent service on the watch is not at fault.

: Is there any way of restoring the
: water resistance without replacing the
: original crown?

There is no way to restore the original water resistance - period.
