Don't know which way to turn!

As the proud owner of a new Speedy Pro, I’d appreciate comments on setting the hands.

Conventional wisdom on this forum seems to be that hands should normally be turned in the forward direction only, with reverse movement potentially causing additional wear or even damage.

However, Omega’s instruction book clearly says that one may turn the hands backwards or forwards, and backs this up with a double headed arrow on the diagram at the back of the book.

Also an article from Timezone – classics Message 1282. 57 : “Some basics in handling the crown” Posted By. . Walt Odets. Says: “1. The time may be set backwards or forwards. In general, it is best to go in the direction that will require least rotation to get there.”

Any ‘horologists’ out there care to advise? – or anyone else for that matter!

Best regards

Chris
