Thickness of SMP Chronograph

I fell in love with the James Bond style Seamaster Professional a few years ago and I will soon be taking the plunge and buying one.

I saw the Chronograph version of this watch and was equally impressed. I didn't realise at the time that this was a lot thicker than the non-chronograph (approx 5mm thicker).

Can anyone tell me if they have found the chronograph too thick / cumbersome to wear? My concern is that a thicker watch is more likely to get caught on things and damaged when I am wearing it.
