Thanks for getting back to me-

-The repair person did tell me that the second hand was pushing against the crystal, and that was the cause of the watch stopping. No, he didn't tell me what 'the problem' was.

- I am using the http://www.time.gov/index.html website to calibrate. The repair person told me this was the source they used.

- This is my first mechanical watch as you noted, so I have not encountered these problems before.

- I don't work around any of the electomagnetic sources you mentioned, though I wonder if the same car window motor or garage door opener is the culprit. I will use a Gauss meter to try and detect the culprit. If a similar source is the problem what is the solution???

I greatly appreciate your help, and honestly believe this is one of the best websites on the Internet. It was a tremendous source of info as I determined which watch to buy. I love my AT I just wish this issue could be solved.
