I have a 6 1/2 inch weist and have worn the full size steel SMP for over two and a half years. It is not too heavy, probably because the bracelet makes it carry well on the wrist and glide gently on your arm.
The only 'problem' is that when I put my older Rolex back on, it feels light and wimpy compared to the SMP!
Go for it!
