Re: SMP AUTOvsQTZ a Magnetic"?"

The Seamaster Pros have shielding in place to help prevent them getting magnetized. This is more than adequate for people in normal environments, where the biggest magnetic field they usually encounter are stereo speakers and electric motors like in washing machines.

But they CAN be magnetized when exposed to heavy magnetic fields. The most common cause of this in all the reports I have received was from the high power magnetic fields in certain industrial and commercial settings. Particularly in electronics manufacturing facilities and in vicinity to high voltage power equipment or close exposure to high voltage lines in a telecomminications room.

So I would NOT suggest you use an automatic in your work environment.

Again, any damage would not be permanent, but it would be an inconvenience to have to take it to be demagnetized after it occurs.
