Re: Rubber strap and deployant clasp for GMT

The Omega rubber straps are great. But they really are not by design any more reliable than the standard bracelet. Possibly your bracelet needs adjustment, because the GMT's clasp should not pop open on you. Also see that you don't have the bracelet adjusted too tight to your wrist. That can cause unnecessary stress especially when you are flexing your arm, that could exceed the tolerance of the bracelet clasp.

But for the highest reliability, you need something different--most watch bracelets and straps have a single point of failure. If just one pin breaks or comes loose, bye bye watch since it will completely fall off your wrist.

The alternative is suprisingly inexpensive. Get a one-piece nylon strap. These cost under $5 at drug stores or you can buy the fancier 'NATO' straps for $10-15 through some online watchstrap dealers.

The advantage with these is that they slide through the strap pins and buckle securely to your wrist. If either one of the strap pins fails, the watch will still be held to the strap by the other pin.
