Re: "Oyster" style bracelet in US?

He is talking about is the Speedmaster style bracelet - and yes it is being carried by jewelers in the USA, they have only just been introduced in the US, so supplies are limited, call your jeweler first.
The "hollow link" bracelet you have ref'd to is called a "Jubilee" bracelet, and had a type of link that when first introduced to the US market, was manufactured in the USA, by which everyone has referred to as being weak and which loses it form or shape. The current "Jubilee" bracelet uses much better materials, and does not lose its form or shape.
By the way the current Oyster line does not use hollow links - currently all Oyster line models use "solid link Oyster bracelet" and is as strong as the Speedmaster style or basket weave "Bond" style bracelet - and it is much easier to adjust,in comparison to the Omega bracelet - in particular the "Bond" - which has too many parts - whereby adjusting should only be serviced by a jeweler, also this type of bracelet "Bond" style is being phased out. Omega has made the SMP and Speedmaster more "uniform" in look by using the same bracelet style...

: I'm not realy sure what you mean by the
: "oyster style" bracelet, Jason.
: The oyster bracelet is a design used on
: Rolex watches. It's considered by many
: people on this forum to be inferior to the
: Omega bracelets (the oyster bracelet is made
: up of hollow, rolled metal links, with only
: the end links being solid; Omega bracelets
: have all solid links, making for a much more
: substantial feeling bracelet, also balancing
: the heft of the dive watches better). To my
: knowledge, the SMPs only come with the
: traditional "basketweave"
: bracelets, in the US. You can, however,
: special order an SMP with the newer
: "Speedmaster"style bracelet thru
: any authorized dealer in the US, or buy out
: of country (the speedmaster-style bracelets
: are standard in some other countries). Hope
: this helps.
