Re: Fake Omegas?
In Response To: Re: Fake Omegas? ()

It's amazing to me all the fakes out there. Before I bought my SMP (at an authorized local Dealer)I like most people wanted to shop around. So I looked extensively on the net including Ebay, where there were (and still are) lots of fakes and these bozo's try to pass them off as real, setting reserves high and they get bids. I feel sorry for these people. The good news is most of these fakes are fairly easy to spot. It seems the counterfitters don't always try to copy Omega's down to every last detail, like they do with Rolex's. I found a legitmite site that sold fake Rolex's that they claimed could not be distinguished from a Real one with out opening it up. That makes it realy hard for the bargan shoper that wants to pick up a nice watch for say, their significant other, and doesn't take the time to understand all the in's and outs of the watch world. Omega's on the otherhand have hard to duplucate finite details that most fakers don't bother to duplicate. Don't get me wrong there are some prety good fakes but I (with lots of help from this site in the "Omega Consumer Alert" and the "Rogues gallery") can now spot a fake a mile away. AZ....
