My guess is........

it's due to Omegas upward trend. I think we've been seeing Omega going into the higher end of the market. I don't think the gold bezel justifies a $945 premium either. I think they have been looking for ways to increase the pricing on their watches and using small changes to justify it. I really don't think the LE of 9,999 adds much to the cost of the America's Cup. The engraving is top notch, but does it really justify the additional cost we see? I think that, with most brands, it is more due to marketing strategies than actual cost.

They changed the clasp on the Speedmaster Pro and charged an additional $300 for it. This makes the price difference $800 between the SpMP w/display back ($3095) and the SS back version ($2295) of just two years ago.

The older "Bond" style Gold/SS watches had a crown and Helium Escape Valve in 18k Gold. The new versions do not. The new version of the Gold/SS is priced $300 higher than the America's Cup and Non-America's Cup because it has Gold hands and link accents. Does this really reflect the cost of the additional gold, or is it the cost of the additional gold at Wholesale (50% of Retail) + the Retail markup?

All the new versions of the Speedmasters are >$4000, while the DeVille line is now full of >$3000 Co-Axials.

They eliminated the Dynamic line (economically priced).

The MSRP on the new style bracelets is lower than the old style bracelets, yet this is not reflected in the price of the watch.
