Omega's response on sapphire Speedy Pro

FYI. This is Omega's response when I asked them about retrofitting a front sapphire crystal to my Speedy Pro display back model.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for having approached us on the web and we were very
pleased to learn that you are owner of an Omega Professional Speedmaster
Original Moonwatch and would like to thank you for having chosen Omega!
Further to your inquiry we inform you that Omega will be launching the
Speedmaster Professional Original Moonwatch, cal. 1863 (transparent sapphire
crystal), with a scratch-resistant anti-reflective sapphire crystal by
September 2002. With regard to the water-resistance the fixation of a
hesalite and a sapphire crystal is different and therefore the case
construction is not the same. For this reason it is not possible to fit a
sapphire crystal onto your watch. Please do not hesitate to contact us again
for any additional question you may have. We hope that this information is
satisfactory to you and thanking you once again for your confidence in our
brand, we remain,

With best regards,

O M E G A SA
