Assuming that you purchased it new, it shouldn't need any maintenance for several years; 3-5 years should do nicely. If the watch is used, find out from the owner when and where the last service was performed, etc. If this can't be ascertained (and the serial number of the watch indicates that it wasn't manufactured in the last few years) then now might be a good time, just to be sure.
