Thanks for your responses. It sounds like I'll test the reserve as suggested by Mark.

And yes, it was sent off to an Omega service center after the roadtrip. I also specifically requested that they tell me what went wrong so that I might be able to avoid the problem in the future. Of course, once I got the watch back, there was no mention of what went wrong or what work was performed.
