Re: Vintage Seamaster Movement Rust

I had a 1950's Seamaster with some rust in the movement. In 1999, I sent it to Omega.ch, but they wouldn't touch it because they no longer had all the parts they wanted in order to send it back to me in the sort of perfect condition on which they pride themselves. I don't know if they would have removed rust.

I sent it to "my" watchmaker who removed the rust and did whatever he thought necessary and the watch is functioning perfectly again. I hope it will go on doing so, but of course there's no guarantee with such an old watch for which parts are no longer available.

If possible, I would keep the existing movement otherwise your watch would become a less valuable "frankenwatch" !
