Wondering about "bracelet stretching"

Derek, et al:

Saw some discussion on this subject on a Rolex forum. The question was asked: what makes a watch bracelet stretch, what kind of damage is it actually doing, and what can prevent it? Most posters believed that ALL Rolex bracelets would stretch over time, but I wonder if that can be applied to the Omega Seamaster bracelet.

First of all, there is a rumor that the bracelet of a watch will stretch faster if you wear your watch looser rather than tighter, which I do (when I raise my arm straight up like I am sinking a basket, the watch falls about half an inch to an inch UP my wrist toward the forearm). Is this true?

Plus, is there anything about the maintenance of a watch that can prevent this? Once it happens, can it be fixed (I am not altogether sure I understand how the bracelet fits together, so I ask this question from ignorance).

I appreciate any input or thoughts anyone has on this. Thanks!

Judson
