Diving advice with the SMP

I am an avid diver and have taken my SMP on several dives above 150 ft. But after the last two dives, I have had sand become wedged under the bezel. The first time this happened, I was able to turn the bezel with some difficulty using my fingers and the sand cleared. The second time, I had to use a pair or cloth wrapped pliers (gently!!) to turn the bezel and expunge the sand (done under running water to wash it away).

I consider this a fatal design flaw in the SMP. Interestingly enough, the bezel now rotates extremely smoothly and quietly unlike before.

I think the tiny scratches referred to in my last message may also be from sand. Needless to say, in future dives, my SMP will remain in the dresser and my Zodiac goes with me to the bottom!
