1st fine watch purchase

Hello, all. I'm considering my first purchase of a fine watch and have pretty much decided on the Bond Seamaster Pro 2531.80. I've read the articles on this site over more than several times, and have been monitoring the conversations on forum here for two weeks or so. Got a couple of questions:

1. I'm considering purchasing through Ashford. I know they're a reputable gray market dealer - largely from what I've read here - and I understand the ramifications. My only concern is warranty: What is the honest to God chance I'll need to use it in the first year? I mean, is there any general feeling for how rare or frequent warranty claims are on this model?

2. Going from the Citizen/Seiko world is a big step.... for my wife! Any suggestions on how to convince her?!

Thanks to everyone - especially Derek. Great site and great people! Can't imagine where I'd be now without this site.
