some answers.....and thoughts...

Hi

First off Omega did not make the 30T2Rg with Shock proofing. They did make other 30mm movement with shock proof like the 30 T2 PC. When you talk about the 30 mm chronometre from Omega that is a very specific movement. It will either be 30 T2 Rg (sub seconds) or 30 T2 SC Rg (sweep seconds).

Please keep in mind that Mr. Kreuzer book was written in German and then translated. So there are some typos and other such things. Pleae keep in mind that its not the absolute truth about Omega.

I did a little checking about your serial number from my own collection I have a watch that is with in 200,000 of your number and my watch was manufactured late 1948. So I would put your watch in the 1947 time period.

Tell us about your 30 T2 Rg, is it in steel or gold ? snap back or screw back? diameter 33, 35 or 35.5 mm? dial configuration? raised markers? or painted? Roman or Arabic numbers?

i would post some of mine but i am on the road and traveling...

any questions ???

: Omega Designs by Anton Kreuzer - Schiffer Publications
: (224pp.) It chronicles the entire history of the company
: and their watch designs. Included are pictures and diagrams
: of many of their movements, along with specs. He also
: includes many original ads and prices.

: I thought this might help settle the SN disparity and other
: questions about my 30T2Rg, but it only clouds the issue
: further. Kreuzer states that the 30mm was introduced in
: 1938 and shock protection was added in 1943. His serial
: number list shows my watch (10646045) as having been made
: ca. 1945/1946, but mine does NOT have shock protection. In
: another spot in his book he lists the introduction of the
: 30mm as 1939.

: I will try to find an email address for the author so I can
: find out whether it's his 30mm or serial number dates that
: are incorrect.
