Re: new SMP accuracy
In Response To: Re: new SMP accuracy ()

My SMP was 8 seconds a day fast when new from Ashford, now after 2 months of wearing it has settled down to between 0 and 1 second per day. Over the past 4 days it has been dead on. I've also just received a Zenith Class El Primero that I've had for 10 days so far, it's running +10 to +12 seconds a day. I'm not worrying yet, as the Omega seemed to take a big jump in accuracy after about 2 weeks. I hear that the fast beat Zenith movements sometimes take a month or 2 to settle in.

I think 15 seconds a day is a little fast out of the box since the chrono cert is -4/+6 per day. It should get better after some time though. More important I would think is the consistancy day to day. Talk to your dealer with your concerns. See if he will give you return priveledge after a couple more weeks, if not then maybe swap for one with better accuracy. I wouldn't try for too close to 0/day though. Whatever you get should slow a bit as you wear it (don't want to get one dead on right out of the box only to have it go to -6 seconds per day slow after wearing it a month or so !!)
