: Bailey Banks and Biddle store that they
: discontinued Rolex for quality problems.

That sounds like the kind of crap such dealers use to cover teh fact that THEY got dropped by a particular brand--often for either violating their agreements or not selling enough volume.

It sounds pretty unlikely that any dealer in their right mind would drop the #1 best known premium watch brand from their stores of their own volition.

: they said and service was 4 to 6 months with
: exorbitant fees.

That part I can agree with. Rolex factory service center gets SO much business that they don't do small repairs. Basically if you send a Rolex to be fixed at the factory, they do a full recondition on the watch. Had to send my Rolex in once for a repair that could not be handled by a local repair shop. Back on the late 1980's that was a $475 repair--about 1/3 the retail price of the watch at that time.

: Is the average mechanical quality of Rolex
: less than Omega or say Tag as they claim??

Rolex is not perfect, but I have not heard any reason to believe they are any less quality than Omega. Harder to compare to Tag, as I understand that they are not as consistent on the sources of their watch movements--not a practice you would expect of a true premium brand.
