It is easy to be defensive of brands. The worst situations I have seen have come from the Rolex brand and I am glad to see that the brand Omega has not brought about the same level of "defensiveness". I did not feel that you have insulted IWC. It was that your comment was unjustified.
Different brands have different target markets. The lack of innovation in the look of a certain line could be because of the desired target market. However, you could not dispute that the GST line is not innovative. There is a Deep One which has the first mechanical diving gauge. The GST has user-adjustable bracelets,etc.. At the end of the day, people pick what they like.
What I do agree with is that the Seamaster provides excellent value for money and in many ways, this will appeal to more people than the IWC.
Yes, IWC does not discuss accuracy in their brochures. However, eventhough most IWC watches are not certified chronometers, they are adjusted to leave the factory at 0 to +6 seconds (I cannot remember this exactly but am guessing that it is around +5 to +8 seconds per day). Most IWC owners have reported tolerances much less which makes them very accurate watches.
Anyway, it is discussing our ideas on forums that educates us. Please do not feel that this is a bad thing.
