Everyone that eat Oranges in the year 1857 are dead .This all started when I noticed that some older clients that did not move that much found that the automatic watches did not work that well.Space ships and stations (STAR Trek and Star Wars aside) are small spaces and creating momentum would be difficult BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. And for the fifth time I said "YES they would work just not as well as on earth" . Do you or anyone else have any evidence that Astronauts DO NOT wind or shake their watch to keep them running? Do you have any evidence that automatics do work as well in space as they do on earth? Who here , BTW , has not manually wound an automatic watch? Please show me some evidence that I'm Wrong! Show me, that in a confined space , the rotor would turn and wind a movement (And not just spin without winding ) And I will send a bag of M&Ms to show there are no hard feelings.
: Hi all,
: Great discussion.
: I've seen these arguments before.
: Fact is, although there is no weight in space
: the mass is still the same. Mass, inertia
: and momentum are what spin your rotor, and
: it will work perfectly well in space. Zero
: degredation of performance. Many autos have
: been worn in space...Seiko Chronographs,
: Rolex GMT Master (Swigert...to the moon and
: back on Apollo 13 with no problems), Glycine
: Airman (Conrad), Sinn, Fortis (Cosmonauts)
: etc...
