The 1972 Brochure (cover shown below, on top) shows the 1163 MH, with the stripes on the minute recorder (possibly the Orange Boy).
The 1972 full Chronograph Catalog (cover shown below, on bottom) does not show any of the 1163s, but only the 11630s . . . so this gives us the line between the 1163 and the 11630.
I believe that the Viceroy promotion would have been only for the US market, but that's a good question for me to check. The consumer was required to send in $88 and the end of a carton of Viceroy cigarettes. I suspect that the promotion was only valid in the US, as there may have been legal restrictions on these sorts of promotions and it's also hard to imagine sending these watches around the world for $88. Perhaps some of our non-US readers can search eBay for "Viceory ad 1972" and see whether we find these ads in any non-US magazines.

: Interesting theory Jeff, and one that would make sense.
: One thing that is of not, is that all the old Viceroy adverts
: appear to be in dollars, and with the Heuer Time US address in
: the small print.
: This might be relevant or not, but I wonder how other markets were
: treated. The '72 catalogue you refer to is also a US catalogue..
: it would be interesting to see if any other 72 catalogues from
: around the world come to light in the future.
: On the whole, your theory could well be an answer.. on the other
: hand, there was a huge range of models at this time, seems odd
: that the Orange Boy was dropped over any others, when it was a
: different colourway.
