So it's a compliment and I normally just take it as such, only widening the discussion if it seems they want to or have something worth mentioning on their wrist too.

I've been learning German on and off since age 13, both in education and real life, so haven't had any problem with pronounciation myself. Some people do say it a bit like they're vomiting but I normally know what they mean! They might not sound particularly German when they say it, but it's not like I say Ferrari in a cod-Italian Super Mario voice either :)

However, British people saying Porsch instead of Porsche irritates me every time I hear it...
