Excellent stuff Paul. Feels like we are getting somewhere.
So, I wonder if the serial nos confirm what we are saying, I presume so.
You are right, the 5th execution isn't seen in any catalogues.. Well, non I've seen. I wonder if there are any old adverts with a picture. I'll have a hunt around.
Cheers
Stewart
: Hi Stewart, yes I would say that these hands go with the 5th exec
: dial. The other main feature of the 5th exec dial which I failed
: to mention in my earlier post is the hour markers. 4th exec are
: plain steel with ridges, 5th exec have the black inset which
: ties in with the black inset hands - a feature that was common
: in many Heuers of the period i.e. the detail in the hour markers
: are repeated in the hands.
: A quick search through the catalogues of the period show the 4th
: execution as 1970/71. The Bonhams listing seems a bit too early
: at 1969. I did not find the 5th exec dial variant in a catalogue
: and if we assume it followed on from the 4th exec dial i.e. post
: 1970 there is an overlap of Autavia manual wind models -
: compression case and new 70's style case. That must have been
: interesting for the salesmen.
: Now time for the footie.
: regards
