What's the matter with you? You should have told Vic that since you're a big fan of his you'd dig deep into your pockets and give him $6,000 for the watch, even though it's not really worth all that much (it's the Heuer Daytonas that are expensive) although it would be nice if he could sign a certificate of authenticity.
Then you should flip it as quick as you can for,oh, $70,000 maybe a little more and remember not to report this short term capital gain to the IRS. And then you should have a little party for yourself--beluga, Veuve--and congratulate yourself for being so crafty.
I hope you realize that I'm jesting, and that I commend you for your honesty. Actually two scuzzbags did almost that to one of
my guitar friends. This world would be so much better if it weren't for all the damned people in it.
