Don't know who won yet
In Response To: How do you assess this price? ()

Early bidding was very rapid and the price jumped quickly - probably even more so than for the Sub, which looked for a moment like it might sell for less than the Monaco. Once the price got serious, it was between two absent bidders in the UK and the room. One of the absent bidders dropped out around $50k and the remaining UK bidder and the room (don't know if it was one bidder in the room, but it looked like it as they were bidding against the absent bidder not another one in the room) slugged it out until the end price (the room won).

The UK bidders weren't in on the Rolex, so I reckon they could be Heuer as well as McQueen fans :)

There were two other Heuers (and a TAG or two) in the sale:

An Autavia, hammer price $1300:

A Carrera, hammer price $1500:

With buyer's premium, that Carrera is $1800. I was quite surprised at that, given the dial is really in fairly poor condition (check the high-quality image). It even has cracks, like you only expect to see in early porcelain dials.
