If this story is true (and i have a sad feeling it may be the case) then gentlemen we have just lost another piece of history.
It is possibley the 2nd original Chronomatic we have seen come up for sale in the last few months where the dial has been refinished because of paint failure - (remember the redialed "trans" Monaco from Germany - well it actually had a low numbered Chronomatic case and the iconic blue lumed hands which made me suspect it started life as a Chronomatic model)
Its sad to see these original pieces being modified by uninformed people with the best of intentions.
