Jeff, I have the opposite view... I'm surprised that it got that high.
My reasoning is that the 'Chronomatic' side of Heuers is a very specialised area, and I guess that those serious collectors would be completely put off by the destruction on the dial finish.
Personally, if I had to part with my own money, I'd pay for the parts value. I certainly wouldn't wear it, knowing what had happened to it.

But like anything - at the end of the day, it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay!
