Great topic for discussion. I'll continue to think about the question and post my three, one at a time.

The first one is easy . . . it's the Heuer A.M.I. chronograph, produced by Heuer for the Italian air force. Put this on your wrist, and you will know that you are wearing a watch -- it's a chuck of steel, with a watch inside.

My sample has the right marks for its A.M.I. military issuance and shows that it has been used, in action -- lots of nicks, gashes, scratches, dents, etc. In my view, these kinds of "imperfections" add to the mystique of a "military" watch and add to the character / experience of wearing the watch.
