aside the drivers and their abilities and the marketing and getting down to pure aesthetics, the Carrera of the 1960’s is THE most perfect watch in my most humble of opinion. When I first became interested in vintage watches I trawled the net and viewed hundreds if not thousands of pictures of watches. I was first attracted to the Omega Seamaster cal.321 with the white dial three sub registers. Then I found the Top Time and that caught my attention but when I finally stumbled on a picture of a 2447 Carrera I knew immediately that I had found my perfect watch. So I bought one and have never looked back. When I contemplate the merits of each watch I have in my collection there is no doubt in my mind that this is the purest in terms of function and design and has an elegance that very few if any chronographs have ever managed to achieve. If it was 3mm larger in diameter it would have greater appeal to collectors as many have larger wrists than me and feel under whelmed when they have it on the wrist. But that’s a modern day problem and a fashion issue which rival marketing and famous driver association for reasons not to buy a watch. This is what I mean.
