Experts & Fellow Enthusiasts:

Evaluating a watch for purchase and trying to understand what I am looking at around the case edge in these photos.

To me, this looks like deterioration/degradation/corrosion of the inside of the case, but since I just wear watches and don't open them I thought I would ask for second opinion(s) from the experts.

If this is in fact corrosion, how should I consider it in my offer for the watch? The dial is in great condition and everything works properly, so these photos suprised me a bit.

I should point out that the seller is a standup gentleman and has been nothing but transparent, but he and I are sort of in the same boat experience wise. I have asked for higher res photos from him.
