As already pointed out here...I also think case is blasted, I presume with Aluminiumoxide 400 or something in that neighborhood. Quite a rough finish and ideal surface prior to coating.

I included a few pics here from a case I refinished very recently. You see the rough finish...which is very similar to the finish of your barrel Carrera. The other finish...which is also obtained with blasting is much more refined with a satin finish.
