My response: If you are a watch-junkie, Rolex is "everyman's" watch. MOST Rolex owners know NOTHING about watches. They simply have a need to make a statement that they have "arrived". I used to have a Sub, GMT, and Explor.I. I liked them but they are TOO common now, and have real functional design inferiorities to Omega, IMO.

Omega, Brietling, IWC, Paneri, Breguet, Zenith etc. are watches for those that appreciate the art/technology/watch functions and have done a lot more homework before deciding to buy a watch. In my opinion, Rolex has "designed itself into a corner". It is a high quality piece, but you are paying for their astronomical advertising budget, nothing more.
