Apologies, in advance, for the bad photos.
I am 1 of 4 kids. For my 18th birthday, I was asked what I'd like. I picked a Seiko Chonograph. I knew my parents couldn't stretch to anything else.
here's a really BAD picture.
This was on my arm for about 13 years. ( I showered in this, skied in it, parachute jumped , Bungee jumped whilst wearing it ... basically did everything except dive with it - it never missed a beat. )
In 1990 I bought a Speedmaster MK II from a friend who needed some cash. This unfortunately came with all papers & boxes ;-)
In 1993 I sent my Seiko in for a service ( the 1st & only one it has ever had ) It came back looking like new ! I have rarely worn it since then. At this time I started to wear my MK II constantly.
In 1999 I discovered eBay & started buying random watches. Mostly Seiko divers & Bellmatics, with the occasional Omega.
About 3 or 4 years ago, I decided to see if I could find any info on the internet on my MK II.... that was the start of the end.
I then found Chuck's website & the various forums.
I've since sold most of the Seikos & replaced them with "a few" Omegas...
Here are some of my speedies...
If I were to branch out in another direction, I'd probably go either Tissot or Heuer. But thankfully finances don't allow this.
I don't miss the Seikos. but , & I've said this before, the Seiko that I got for my 18th birthday is the ONLY watch that I will never sell, regardless of what life throws at me.
