Actually, Costco, like most other gray dealers, includes their own warranty. They have their own jeweler that does their repairs for them. No idea how good they are on fixing Omegas. But if you don't like how they fix your watch, Costco also has an open-ended return policy! That is something that no other seller of Omegas that I know of has.
Now THAT might have saved our friend with the horror story.
