Re: Quartz
In Response To: Re: Quartz ()

: All but the cheapest modern quartz are quite
: accurate. Though the quartz from brands like
: Rolex and Omega are well better than most on
: accuracy. I've heard reports from many
: quartz SMP owners of their watches staying
: with 3-10 seconds a YEAR.

: At the moment, Breitling has the upper hand
: with their SuperQuartz movement which claims
: not only far exceptional accuracy but also
: to run 8 years on its special lithium
: battery. This is in all their current model
: quartz watches.

: Other than that, a quartz movement doesn't
: really cheapen a watch as the cost of the
: movement--mechanical or quartz--in most
: standard time/date and maybe chronograph
: watches is a trivial portion of the total
: cost anyway.

: So go for what pleases you most!

Hold on! If the movement is only trivialportion of teh cost, what ARE we paying all the extra money for? Marketing? ( Omega does not actually exist, remember- it is a marketing concept owned by Swatch...)
