SMP rubber strap ordered and returned

Howdy Zowie,

after seeing Ron's SMP with rubber strap, I thought I'd order one and occasionally change from bracelet to strap and back, to give my watch a different look.

I shelled out a fair amount of cash for this strap, but when it arrived, it was not the one in Ron's post.

Rather, it was the one that Derek and I have both seen on Omega brochures for the SMP.

The strap I received came with the clasp, but the strap itself was not the speedmaster double ridged type with the lug aperture filled in.

Instead, it was a just a thick, flat navy blue rubber strap. Since my watch is a SMPC and is about as thick as a tuna can, you can imagine that the over all effect was not too sharp.

I am hoping I can order the double ridge style straps and insert them into the clasp, and that they will take the flat straps back...we'll see if this is a possibility.

Interestengly, I have also seen SMPC's on a sharkskin strap with clasp in a jewelry store, and that strap was also of the double-ridged Speedy style.

I have a leather one of these on my dad's vintage auto, and I think they look great, especially the way they fill up the space between the lugs.

Anyway, those of you who would like to order a rubber strap, maybe double check with Omega (fill in the country) and make sure they send you the one you want.

Cheers to all,

Mus.
