An explanation *PICS*
In Response To: I'm jealous and confused!! ()

Hi Sam,

I probably spend too much time in eBay !

A while ago I saw this picture & archived it.

I've seen plenty of these plastic packing "carriers", but have only archived a single picture.

I think THIS is the way that watches are transported to the dealers.

Looking in one of the delears catalogues, that I have, I see the following :-

The above page clearly shows which watches should be in which boxes ( there are other pages, I just scanned 1 page )

Here's another scan :-

The last 5 pictograms on this page show that there are pictograms for each box type. These pictograms are usually on the watches hang tag.

Now you could argue that this info is just in case the watch & box get seperated, but I'd argue that the watch is shipped in a plastic carrier, The boxes are shipped seperately & they 2 are combined at the delears. Maybe they come from different countries/warehouses etc etc.

I know that in this particular example ( Sams watch) we are talking about a watch sold in the mid 80's & it's very possible that Omega DID ship box & watch together then.

I am 100% sure they don't nowadays though.

I hope I've cleared things up a bit.

S.
