Re: How to remove Crown Stem caliber 500

: Considering the events of late on some of the "other"
: forums I figured I would lay low here for a few weeks. Anyway I
: need some advice on how to remove the crown stem from a caliber
Very similar technique as in removing the stem on the 550 series mike. Its actually a kind of pusher. What you do is depress it with a tool - you can probably use a springbar tool - but you have to be very careful that you dont apply too much pressure, otherwise you will have problems.

Keep hand on crown - maintaining a certain outard force - and depress the release, gradually applying more pressure until the stem detaches. The stem returns using the same technique.

Good luck

500. There doesn't seem to be a screw on the caliber that one
: would turn to remove it, instead there seems to be a small what
: I might call a pin with an inset middle that does not have a
: screw head. The hole in the middle is so small, it could be an
: "allen" wrench type head, but it just appears to be
: round. Do I push this in or am I completely in the wrong place
: to remove the stem?

: Reason is that I recently picked up a cal. 500 watch and the crown
: is missing and the stem is broken at the crown tube, so it needs
: to be removed and replaced.

: Any help is appreciated.

: Mike
