Re: Got it Desmond, thanks and another question

Hi Mike

I usually use a pin vise to hold the stem and then just wind it on....tightly but not too tightly. You can indeed use lock tight and I know some watchmakers do, but I havent had any problems not using it.

If you use a pin vice, make sure you actually grip the stem on the rectangular part of the stem. If the grip is too far down you may break the stem winding on the crown...too far up and you may damage thread and/or break stem.

Use the same process to put the crown back as you did removing it, again not putting too much pressure on the release, but only enough for the stem to lock into place.

Cheers

Desmond

: Ok, was able to get the stem changed out. Second question is how
: do I secure my new crown to the crown stem? Its a threaded stem.
: Should I use some Lock-tite? It doesn't seem that it will stay
: on when I turn the crown counter clockwise to set the time
: without something to secure it. Again your help is appreciated.
