I bought a SMP auto for $1100 from Diamond.com, who also extends the warranty to two years P/L. They do remove the serials though. I debated for a long time between auth/unauth and just couldn't see forking out the extra dough for an authorized purchase. When you factor in no-tax as well, it's even more tempting.
I think people spending this kind of money want to 'do the right thing' and buy from an auth dealer, but those dealers have to make their services more tempting. $650 dollars off retail is worth more to me than what the auth dealers offer. Others may disagree, but I've been extremely satisfied with Diamond.com, their warranty, shipping and customer service.
